Dangerous Critter!

A few years ago, our headquarters received a call from an elderly female reporting an animal in her closet. The Sergeant, badge number 109 (who stands 6'5" tall) was available, so he responded to the call. He arrives on scene, looks in the closet, pokes around and immediately slams the door shut and tells me (the dispatcher) to get animal control to the scene right away to remove a wild animal from the closet. By the time Animal Control gets down there, the Sergeant is out on a different call. The Animal Control Officer checks the closet and calls HQ to report that they didn't find any animal... or at least not the type that should scare a 6' tall Police officer in the closet...What they did find was a fur hat  that had fallen from a hook!!  Of course knowing that the Sergeant would want this information right away and not want to wait until he called or came in... I just had to put it out over the radio for all those residents listening in scanner land...
(ME) Hq to 109 ...
(109) Go ahead Hq ...
(ME) 109 animal control confirms the capture of a hat , I repeat a Hat H, A, T. Not a Bat or a Cat but a Hat it is now confined to a hat box in the closet and will not do any more attacking tonight.
Radio Silence... hmmmm.

P.S. 109 is now the Chief of Police
