|One afternoon while working along in the Comm Center, I received a call reporting a man in a van with a knife. He was allegedly holding another person hostage. Multiple officers responded to the scene. They took up positions of cover behind their vehicles, and they proceeded to call the suspect out of the vehicle at gunpoint. The suspect held his hands out the window. In his hands he had a chicken and a paring knife
||that he had been using to cut the chicken up into bite-sized pieces. Other than the late unfortunate fowl, there was no hostage. He held the chicken pieces out of the window. The lead officer didn't miss a beat. "DROP THE CHICKEN AND MOVE AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE," he instructed. As it turned out, the suspect went to jail anyway because he had an outstanding warrant. It was not for carrying a concealed chicken.
